What skills has RFS helped you develop as a NED?
For me, I think understanding the wider environment, government, military, and commerce and how they could all come together in helping overcome the challenges faced by military spouses in gaining employment, how we are able to influence the influencers to make the right calls without any direct control has been a huge learning curve.
How would you convince someone in your network to support military spouses?
I have always shared my own experience in that military spouses are a fabulous network of supremely capable, resilient and adaptive individuals with largely untapped skills wanting to make a genuine contribution. Fortunately, quite a few folks in my network have already recognised the same value!
What is your favourite quote?
There are so many but perhaps my favourite is ‘We haven’t come this far to only come this far’ because in my experience things rarely go to plan and extra effort is always required.
