The RFS Foundation CIO has been awarded funding from Greenwich Hospital to strengthen employment, wellbeing and tailored support services for Royal Navy, Royal Fleet Auxiliary and Royal Marines spouses, partners and families.
The 12-month project, running from 1 February 2026 to 31 January 2027, will sustain targeted provision for RN/RM/RFA communities facing the distinct challenges of service life.
RN/RM/RFA families account for 25% of RFS’s beneficiaries, highlighting continued demand for focused support. Frequent relocations, overseas postings, disrupted employment pathways, and additional barriers experienced by Foreign & Commonwealth families can restrict access to stable careers and consistent wellbeing services.
This funding enables the Foundation to strengthen delivery infrastructure, broaden outreach, and deepen collaboration across the RN/RM/RFA charity sector.
The grant will support a dedicated RN/RM/RFA Programme Manager to act as a central point of contact for families, coordinate referral pathways, build trusted partnerships, and lead targeted engagement activities, including careers and community information events.
Funding will also sustain three core programme pillars: one-to-one professional coaching and mentoring sessions delivered by a network of more than 90 volunteer mentors; delivering practical wellbeing support addressing stress, isolation and service-related pressures; and tailored Foreign & Commonwealth support, including qualification conversion assistance and employability guidance.
By December 2026, the project is expected to expand access to employment and wellbeing services, reduce isolation for overseas and hard-to-reach families, and strengthen collaboration and signposting across the support network.
The initiative will further demonstrate a scalable, high-quality model of provision that contributes to improved employability, family stability and long-term resilience.
The RFS Foundation CIO extends its sincere thanks to Greenwich Hospital for its commitment to supporting the naval community and enabling this important work.
