My speciality is CV writing and coaching. I help spouses to build their self-confidence and self-belief so they’re well prepared when they get to interview and can give it their best shot.
My husband is in the Royal Engineers and we have been together since the start of his career in 2005. I joined Recruit for Spouses because the values really resonate with me. Empowering military spouses to have their own careers is something I am passionate about. The best thing is working alongside people who have the same vision and drive as me.
Before Recruit for Spouses, I worked in Human Resources. Moving around with my husband’s job meant I worked at different organisations, gaining valuable experience.
When I had my daughter I decided that a full-time job that involved travelling didn’t suit the lifestyle we wanted. So I set up my own business, working one to one with spouses and serving personnel on their CVs. I coach my own clients at Becky Hopwood Coaching
We’ve lived in seven different houses since 2008, including an unexpected 500-mile move to Scotland completely when a regiment moved after we were posted (we ended up loving it)! I completed my CIPD (HR qualification) in two different universities and three houses.
I have met some amazing friends and remarkable people along the way, which is what inspires me to keep going with the nomadic lifestyle.
